Important Financial Aid Information

Receiving  Financial Aid

Disbursement of financial aid is contingent upon you attending all of your classes. If you do not attend your classes, all or part of your financial aid will be reversed and you may owe the college. If you enroll in all late starting classes, your disbursement will be paid right before late starting class/es begin. You must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) for aid to be disbursed. Note: your classes will not be held prior to the approval of any submitted appeal.

Financial Aid Census Date (Impacts Pell Grants Only)

The Pell Grant awards are based on students’ enrollment level (credits taken) on census date. The census date is when the student’s enrollment is locked. The Pell Grant will be reviewed and adjustments will be made, if necessary, based on the student’s enrollment level. The students who enroll at the beginning of the semester and add courses after the census date should be prepared to pay for additional tuition & fee charges out of pocket.

**Please note: Pell Grant-eligible students who enroll in late-start course(s) for the first time (never before enrolled at CSN for the semester) may still qualify for the Pell Grant. The census date will be based on the date of enrollment or when CSN receives the student’s FAFSA, whichever is later.

2021 – 2022 Academic Year

Spring 2022

Satisfactory Academic Progress Appeal Date

Disbursement Dates
First Disbursement Date - January 11, 2022. **Disbursements continue weekly through the end of the semester

Census Dates
Census Date - January 24, 2022 at 9:00 p.m. (Note: You may still enroll or drop classes up to 12:00 midnight.  However, financial aid will only pay for eligible classes registered by 9:00 p.m.)

First Time Direct Loan Borrower: 30-Day Delay
First-time direct loan borrowers are subject to a 30-day delay of their first loan disbursement. The first scheduled disbursement date for a first-time borrower in spring is February 18, 2022.

Spring-Only Direct Loans
Direct loan requests that are processed after 1/11/22 as spring-term only loans will have their first disbursement occur within 1-2 weeks of the request being processed. The second disbursement will occur on March 17, 2022. Please note: if you are enrolled in only late-starting courses, disbursements may be held until on or after the start date of those courses.

Degree Mod Exception Appeals Deadline:  March 25, 2022
If Financial Aid determines one or more courses are not required for your program, you must submit an appeal completed by your Academic Advisor. Check your MyCSN Communication for these two notifications from our office.

  • Credit Balance Authorization – Accepting or Declining this Acknowledgement is required
  • FA Degree Guidance – Provides instructions on how to appeal courses

60% point for R2T4 (16-week classes only)
Withdraw After – March 25, 2022 (Students earn 100% on or after March 25, 2022)

Loan Dates
The last day to turn in spring only, academic year, or federal parent plus loan request forms is April 29, 2022.

Summer 2022

Disbursement Dates
First Disbursement Date – May 31, 2022. **Disbursements continue weekly through the end of the semester

Census Dates
Census Date - June 5, 2022, at 9:00 p.m. (Note: You may still enroll or drop classes up to 12:00 midnight.  However, financial aid will only pay for eligible classes registered by 9:00 p.m.)

60% point for R2T4 (10-week classes only)
Withdraw After – July 18, 2022 (Students earn 100% on or after July 18, 2022)

Loan Dates
The last day to turn in summer-only and federal parent plus loan request forms is July 8, 2022
